Easter is right around the corner, and we can’t wait to celebrate. This is a time to spend with family and friends, and we have a few ideas to help make your 2015 Easter extra lovely with a stay at Pacific Beach’s Ocean Park Inn.
Start your April 5th with a car ride from Ocean Park Inn to the beautiful Hotel Del Coronado. If you haven’t visited Coronado Island, it is a must see in San Diego! One of the most stunning parts of the island is the Hotel del Coronado. This 125-year-old hotel is recognized as a National Historic Landmark, and will make for a perfect backdrop to family photos this Easter.
You won’t go hungry on Coronado with the Del’s Easter Champagne Brunch Buffet. This is an ideal event for the whole family, as it features a special children’s buffet for the little tykes in the group! After getting your fill of delicious food, you won’t want to miss the quintessential Easter event: the good old-fashioned egg hunt! There are different times for different ages, so don’t worry, it will be a fair race. There are 3 egg hunts from 10:00 am to 10:40 am, then three more from noon to 12:40 p.m. We can’t wait for the Craft ‘Egg’stravaganza, located right by the buffet. This will be a fun project for kids and adults, and is the perfect way to spend quality time with the whole family.
Don’t want to venture far from your luxurious room at the Ocean Park Inn in Pacific Beach? Spend your Easter just a short walk down the boardwalk at Belmont Park, which will be hosting the Easter Bash. There will be 10,000 fun-filled eggs all throughout the park and sand, 25 of which are special Golden Eggs. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to find them! The hunt will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Register the kids beforehand here. Then after the hunt, enjoy lunch with the family at WaveHouse or Draft!
Saint Patrick’s Day is the perfect reason to book a long-awaited trip to San Diego. Find the gold at the end of the rainbow and check-in for the weekend at Pacific Beach’s premier oceanfront hotel, Ocean Park Inn. Whether you stick around for the relaxed beach vibe or head to exciting downtown, Saint Patrick’s Day is sure to be one of the most memorable holidays of the year in San Diego.
The Annual San Diego St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the largest parade west of the Mississippi on March 14th. The fun begins at 10:30 a.m. on 5th Ave and Laurel Street. Thousands of locals and visitors alike will gather in America’s Finest City to watch the parade. Find it shouldn’t be hard…just look for the sea of green! Remember if you don’t wear green, you might just get pinched.
Before heading back to your luxury room at Ocean park Inn, be sure to stop by the incredible Balboa Park! There will be an Irish Festival held on March 14th that promises fun for the whole family! Partake in traditional Irish fare with tasty food, craft booths and two beer gardens at the festival. There will be live entertainment, family fun and a kid zone. And did we mention that one of the sponsors of this event is Guinness? Now you know you can expect great beer! This is a can’t-miss St. Patricks’ Day celebration.
After you’ve had your fill, simply hop in a quick Uber back to Ocean Park Inn and enjoy a beautiful sunset in Pacific Beach. Sit back and realize how lucky you are on this fun-filled holiday.
Need an excuse to book an entertaining weekend getaway to Ocean Park Inn in San Diego? We have the perfect idea! Head out to America’s Finest City for the annual Spring Busker Festival, a cannot-miss event taking place March 7th-8th, 2015! So what exactly is a Busker? A Busker is a street artist that is known for unusual performances, usually comedic, that performs across the globe for tips, and this March many of the most renowned performers will be gathering in our gorgeous city for the festival.
San Diego’s Seaport Village is the one and only host in Southern California of this event, so you can’t see this show anywhere else! There will be everything from sword swallowing, to knife throwing, to juggling while riding unicycles. Past performers have included funny man Marcus Wilson, the human balloon Skip Banks and king of clean comedy, Extreme Rahim. We know it will draw a lot of characters to America’s Finest City, and you won’t want to miss out on the fun.
The best part is, it is a two-day festival! Double the performers, treats and sweets! After the show, explore beautiful Seaport Village. Located on San Diego’s Harbor, Seaport Village currently contains 50 diverse shops, 17 places to eat and lots of outdoor entertainment.
For great food, we always recommend going to the Harbor House. This delicious restaurant holds happy hour from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. every day, and boasts delectable lunch and dinner options. Try the ahi tower, stacked with crab, avocado, papaya salsa and garnished with ponzu sauce covered shrimp chips. If that description alone hasn’t sold you, consider stopping by for fresh oysters daily.
Take a quick Uber back to Ocean Park Inn and finish up the weekend enjoying Pacific Beach. The Pacific Beach Boardwalk is the perfect place to go on a run, enjoy a leisurely walk or play beach volleyball. The cool ocean breeze is just steps away from your room, and is the perfect place to relax after a long day of “oo’s” and “aww’s” at the Busker Festival!
Working on that New Years resolution to get in shape? Consider a fitness goal that includes the 4th Annual San Diego Half Marathon on March 8th, 2015! Or, if you’re not quite in marathon shape just yet, consider running the 5k event instead. Whichever race you run, make sure you book your weekend stay at Ocean Park Inn, the perfect place to relax your weary legs!
Looking for the perfect place to go for one last run before the race? Consider spending Saturday jogging along the gorgeous Pacific Beach Boardwalk, set between the glittering Pacific Ocean and your luxurious accommodations at Ocean Park Inn. Don’t forget to take it easy, and stay hydrated!
On race day, take a quick cab ride from OPI to the race course route beginning at Petco Park, under the Omni Sky Bridge. What better way to explore America’s Finest City than running right through it? The run continues through downtown San Diego to the beautiful San Diego Bay, passing through Mission Hills and Hillcrest along the way! Check out the breathtaking route, here.
What is the best part about running 13.1 miles? Rewarding your hard work at the Celebrate San Diego Gaslamp Block Party after the race! Eat, shop and play in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter after you cross the finish line! The Block Party is an event for the entire family, where runners and cheerleaders alike can enjoy street entertainment, famers markets and the family fun zone. There are even special offers around the block at some of SD’s best restaurants.
