Another College football season is coming to an end, meaning we get to shift our focus to the exciting bowl games! San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium will play host to two of these games, starting with the Poinsettia Bowl on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, and closing with the Holiday Bowl on Saturday, December 27, 2014.
Whether you are tailgating and attending the actual games or simply planning to watch them at your favorite local bar, the Ocean Park Inn will make the perfect home base during your San Diego fun. Located within walking distance to Pacific Beach’s most sought-after sports bars, as well as a short taxi ride away from the stadium, the Ocean Park Inn is your best choice for a post-holidays San Diego getaway.
The Holiday Bowl isn’t all football, however! To mark the kickoff of this exciting game, San Diego presents a 5k, Balloon Parade and more! The 20th Annual 5K Bumble Bee Foods Run/Walk will take begin on the corner of Harbor Drive and Ash Street and finish near Tuna Harbor Park. After the run you will have the chance to stay and watch the Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade where you will be able to enjoy the scenic bayside streets of San Diego. The parade boasts live marching bands, beautiful hand made floats, drill teams and a balloon ceremony. If you are not participating in the 5K run/walk, you can purchase your tickets at the Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade site.
Make your way down to Pacific Beach and enjoy a weekend filled with football festivities and family fun. Gear up and join us for a touchdown weekend!

However, in San Diego, the Winter Solstice is nothing but another sunny Southern Californian day! With school and work breaking for the holidays, come celebrate the Winter Soltice away from your town’s freezing weather at the Pacific Beach’s premier beachfront hotel, the Ocean Park Inn.

2. Ice Skating at Horton Plaza: Gather up family and friends alike and head downtown to San Diego’s premier shopping district, where you can enjoy hot chocolate and get the feel of the holiday season. The ice skating rink will be set up alongside Horton Plaza’s beautiful Christmas tree, making it a great place to spend time with your loved ones.
3. Get out and explore the beauty of San Diego:
You can explore the wonders of San Diego by going on hikes throughout the city or renting bicycles to ride down the seaside boardwalk.
