It’s that time of year again: the weather is getting warmer, Summer is on the horizon, and the fair is on its way into town! Experience this once-a-year event at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, from June 5-July 5. Consider staying down the coast a bit at Pacific Beach’s most-loved family hotel, the Ocean Park Inn.
The Del Mar Fair features many musical and talent performances from artists across the board, from nationally known performers, to local professionals and amateur groups. There are also dozens of contests that you can participate in, ranging from agricultural efforts to cooking and even flower arranging. The county fair also includes many animal exhibits such as a petting zoo, where you can feed the animals. The Del Mar Fair theme changes every year, which is a fun way to keep the attendants guessing on what to expect from the attractions and musical performers. Musical Performers: This year the fair will be hosting musical performers such as Andy Grammer, Austin Mahone and Switchfoot. Along with the musical guests, the world tour of Legends of Rock will be in attendance. This tribute band performs in the Coors Light Rock On Series, a nightly entertainment series that features the finest tribute artists from southern California.
Easy Transportation and Cheap Tickets: You can purchase your tickets to the county fair online, at the Del Mar fairgrounds and even at your local Albertsons or Vons. The tickets are usually around $25, and there are many discount deals available as well. When it comes to figuring out transportation, there are many options available to you. Attendees can drive to the fairgrounds, but keep in mind parking is paid. You may also consider taking public transportation like the trolley, or hop on the shuttle bus!
Festivals: Along with the food, rides, contests and music, there are also individual festivals inside of the county fair. This year the festivals will include the “International Beer Festival,” “Toast of the Coast wine festival,” “Spirit and cocktail festival” and many more. At these festivals, you are able to taste all of your favorite alcoholic beverages and maybe even find a new favorite drink.
