Superbowl XLV Sunday in San Diego

Wave Icon

The NFL Playoffs are finally here and although our Chargers didn’t make the cut, the odds are that our visiting guests still have a favorite team in contention. As the playoffs progress and we move towards that fateful Sunday in February, we here at OPI want to provide our out-of-town guests with a list of which San Diego hotspots are perfect for watching the big game. And even if you’re not that into football, you may want to visit these celebrations for the atmosphere–and to watch those famous Superbowl commercials! The following destinations are guaranteed to keep the wings hot and the drinks served until the final play of the game:

Typhoon Saloon

Typhoon Saloon is located in Pacific Beach, and is only a few blocks away from the Ocean Park Inn. This bar hosts the annual VAVI Superbowl party, and features several tables, multiple bars and a series of large flatscreen TVs for your viewing pleasure. This is the perfect destination if you are looking for a rowdy Superbowl party where the festivities will not stop with the end of the game.

McGregors Sports Bar

This classic San Diego bar is located near Qualcomm Stadium, and is a long-time favorite of San Diego locals for Sunday football and Chargers game tailgating. This bar features TVs surrounding the entire venue, several tables and food service, as well as pool tables and shuffleboard to keep you entertained during halftime.

The Tilted Kilt

The Tilted Kilt is located in Downtown San Diego near the Padres’ home venue Petco Park. The Kilt features a full menu, full bar and more TVs than one person could need at one time, including an entire wall dedicated to projecting the big game. The bar also features pool tables, shuffleboard and some of the most talked-about wait staff in San Diego.

Seau’s Mission Valley

Seau’s Mission Valley is a staple of the San Diego community. Started by famed Chargers linebacker Junior Seau, this sports bar is the ultimate football mecca. The venue features large and small TV screens scattered throughout, so if you get a seat, you’re sure to see the big game. Seau’s also features a full menu and even a sushi bar for one of the more unique Superbowl snacks. This place is the ultimate Superbowl destination and you won’t want to miss it.

If you are in town visiting us at the OPI for the game and you’re not sure where to spend those few hours of ultimate football ecstasy, be sure to make your way over to one of these destinations for the Superbowl party of the year!
