When you think of the holidays, you probably begin to think of family, warm fires, good food, and…Pacific Beach?! Most people do not think about heading to the coast for the winter holidays, but Pacific Beach offers a wide variety of activities to bring the family-friendly fun of the holiday season to the gorgeous setting of the Southern Californian shoreline. The Pacific Beach Holiday Parade is an annual event that presents the sights and sounds of the season for the whole family.

The parade features marching bands, clowns, color guards, immaculate floats and, of course, Santa Clause! The parade begins on Garnett Street, in between Cass and Haines streets. A true ‘Christmas village’ atmosphere is created with vendors selling holiday arts and crafts as well as food items for the hungry patrons celebrating the holiday spirit! The famous tree lighting will be this year’s highlight, set to take place on December 3rd.

After taking in all of the holiday delights at the parade, relax in your cozy room at the Ocean Park Inn. The Inn is located at 710 Grand Avenue in San Diego, and aside from being close to the holiday attractions, it is also close to many theme parks and tourist hot spots, assuring you will always have something to do to enjoy the area this holiday season. The Inn offers many family packages and rates, including the extended stay special, which is valid through December 30, 2011. The special includes 15% off of your entire stay when you book for three nights or more. You can’t beat the views of the rooms, including either a two-queen balcony view, or one king/queen oceanfront room. So what are you waiting for? Put the snow boots away and head on out to Pacific Beach for this year’s festivities!
