The famous San Diego Zoo is world renowned for its wildlife facilities, so we’re sure most of our guests have heard of it, but many of you may not know that the San Diego Zoo also has a Safari Park located approximately 45 minutes from the original Zoo location! The Zoo’s Safari Park (formerly called the Wild Animal Park) is an immersive experience in the style of an African Safari. The park contains some of the most endangered and rare species on the planet, and with their park-wide tram ride you will have the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with these majestic animals. But if you’re looking for an even more unique and exciting way to spend your time at the Safari Park, be sure to look into the park’s one-of-a-kind Roar and Snore Sleepovers.

The Safari Park’s Roar and Snore Sleepovers allow guests to spend the night in the park listening to the sounds of the various breeds and types of animals. The program includes planned activities, an after-hours look at the animals, guided walks, a campfire program and a souvenir t-shirt. There are sleepover programs for all ages, from an adults-only sleepover, to juniors-only sleepovers and even sleepovers for the entire family! The park offers three tent types, which range from premium to classic to suit your adaptability to the outdoors. Prices vary from $30-$220 per person, and depend on age and tent class. Check out the Safari Park’s website at: http://www.sandiegozoo.org/park/special/roar_snore_sleepover to see all of the available options. When you’re in town staying at OPI and you have the desire to get out to the famous San Diego Zoo, consider the Safari Park as a unique alternative and sleep under the stars with all of the other animals that call the park home!
